Brewed Coffee Kanten (ドリップコーヒー寒天)

Do you brew fresh coffee at home?
We do every single morning to wake us up. But, sometimes we can't finish drinking the coffee in a day. In such cases, we don't throw the leftover coffee away, but make coffee kanten instead!
Your afternoon refreshment will be ready with simple ingredients.
 
*The dessert in the photo is unsweetened Brewed Coffee Kanten and Latte Kanten topped with vanilla ice cream and milk.

[Ingredients]

Kanten powder 2g (粉寒天2グラム)
Leftover brewed coffee 400ml (ドリップコーヒー400ミリリットル)
 Brandy 1tsp (ブランデー小1)

[Instructions]

1. Pour brewed coffee (lukewarm to cold) into pan and add Kanten powder. Stir well.
2. Turn on the heat to medium to boil it until kanten is completely dissolved(=to become transparent liquid, approximately for 5mins after boiling).
3. *Add brandy and stir well.
**Add sugar at this point if you like.
4. Turn off the heat and let it cool down.
5. Pour it into cups or containers and let it cool down in the fridge.
And enjoy with any toppings like ice cream and maple syrup!
*If you like to add flavour. Any kinds of brandy works.
**You can add 1-2tbsp of sugar if you prefer gentle sweetness.

[作り方]
1. 鍋の中に冷めたドリップコーヒーと粉寒天を入れてよくかき混ぜて馴染ませる。
2. 火を付けて中火で粉寒天が完全に溶けるまでかき混ぜながら温める。目安は寒天液が透明になるまで。沸騰後、5分間程度。
3. *お好みでブランデーを加える。
**優しい甘さに仕上げたい場合は砂糖を加えてよくかき混ぜて溶かす。
4. 火を止めて粗熱を取ります。
5. 容器に流し入れたらレ冷蔵庫でよく冷します。
お好みでアイスクリームやメープルシロップと共にお召し上がりください!
